I was really impressed by The Kite Runner. I wasnt expecting me to like this book because I usually hate the books we read in school! No offense! :) Hamlet and Hedda are just not my thing...
Anyway, I think this novel gave me a really new understanding of culture in the Middle East and how our culture is so different. Like you said in class, kite flying is like our football. I also enjoyed how you got really attached to the characters through out the novel. I really felt for Hassan. I also wasn't aware that there was still use of servants. That shocked me! It also gave me a better understanding of their friendship.
I believe this novel would open a lot of people's eyes on how good we have it in America and realize the little struggles we have everyday don't even compare to most of the struggles that kids around the world face everyday.
Next time you assign a book, I'll make sure to read it on time :)
None taken! I chose this one especially for winter break because I hoped you all wouldn't hate it! ;D
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that it is eye opening for Americans. It gives us a different perspective our lives and of the lives of others.
